Microbial IAQ Lab Analysis for Facility Teams
Indoor Air Quality describes the conditions inside a building as they affect occupant health and comfort. Indoor pollutant sources, combined with inadequate ventilation, elevated temperature, or high humidity, concentrate gases and particles to levels that can drive allergies, respiratory problems, and Sick Building Syndrome.
Air Allergen provides the lab analysis arm of an IAQ investigation: identifying and quantifying biological contaminants from samples your team collects on-site. With deep experience in IAQ sampling, fungal identification, and analytical interpretation, we offer guidance at every step, from sampling plan to final report.
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory
- Same-day intake for samples received by 12 PM EST
- Indoor-versus-outdoor comparison on every report
- Per-sample pricing with no minimums

Spore trap analysis using Air-O-Cell, Allergenco, and similar cassettes. Direct examination identifies fungal spores (viable and non-viable), pollen, hyphal elements, fibers, bacteria, and other particulate matter, providing complete characterization with quick results.
Culture-based methods grow viable organisms to support species-level identification of fungi and bacteria. Essential when you need to confirm whether organisms are alive and actively growing, though sampling intervals are short and culturable methods miss organisms that will not grow on standard media.
Volumetric analysis to quantify airborne mold spores, bacteria, and other bioaerosols. We compare indoor versus outdoor concentrations to assess whether contamination is generated indoors, often surfacing hidden mold growth that is not visible on inspection.
Tape lift, swab, and bulk sample analysis to identify mold and bacterial growth on surfaces. The go-to method for confirming visible suspected growth and for post-remediation verification.

What We Analyze For
A Full Microbial and Particulate Scope
- Genus-level identification of indicator and amplifier species, including Aspergillus/Penicillium, Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, Cladosporium, and Alternaria
- Hyphal fragments that signal nearby active growth even when intact spores have not aerosolized
- Bacterial bioaerosols associated with HVAC moisture, water intrusion, and occupancy load
- Allergens, endotoxins, mycotoxins, pollen, dust mite components, animal dander, and insect debris
- Indoor particulate matter 10 micrometers or smaller
- LEED Indoor Environmental Quality sample documentation

Standards and Programs
Reports Aligned With the Frameworks You Already Use
- LEED IEQ credit documentation for new and existing buildings
- ASHRAE 62.1 and ASHRAE position statements
- EPA and CDC mold investigation and remediation guidance
- IICRC S520-aligned post-remediation verification
